A few months ago, we started making Ding Dongs, and they’ve been a huge hit. Here’s a little sneak peek into our process in the Southport Grocery bakery.

A great dessert starts with the best ingredients…

The finest chocolate: Cacao Barry Extra Bitter Guayaquil

Highest quality cocoa, to make things extra chocolatey: Cacao Barry Extra Brut

Organic, cage-free eggs from a local farm

Wet and dry ingredients are blended to create this beautifully shiny and deliciously chocolatey batter

After it’s done baking, each chocolate cake rectangle is cut into 12 pieces

Circular holes are cut to create room for the filling

Each square is filled with cream, then capped off with a little circle of cake

Each Ding Dong is hand dipped in chocolate and left to set before wrapping
