- Comments Off on Secret Supper – here’s what you’ve been missing!
After a few month’s hiatus, Secret Supper was back with a bang this month! Secret Supper is our version of the underground dinner – it’s our chance to break out of our regular breakfast and lunch mold & showcase the best local and seasonal ingredients for supper. So what’s the secret? Well firstly, only those who are signed up for our newsletter actually get word of the date and how to sign up each month (so go sign up now!!) and the second element of secrecy is that you won’t know what’s on the menu until you get here on the night. This is our chef’s chance to get really creative in the kitchen, so expect an exciting meal and plenty of flavor explosions! We also offer specially prepared drink pairings on the night, so that you can find the perfect wine, beer or cocktail to go with your meal.
Here’s a breakdown of what the Secret Supper diners enjoyed this month:
First up was an incredible flatbread, hand rolled and layered with chili jam by our talented chef Bill. It was served with braised lamb, house made chili jam, greek yogurt & feta, so was reminiscent of a deconstructed gyro.
Next up was a delicious root vegetable salad, including roast beets & yukon potatoes with walnut gremolata & mustard greens. Tanner, our chef de cuisine, certainly knows how to balance his flavors beautifully, and this really stood out with the addition of this superb gremolata with delicate citrus and nutty flavors.
The main course was tender pulled chicken, served with mixed mushrooms, ricotta dumplings and gravy. It was comfort food meets haute cuisine with this dish and everybody loved it.
We were so focused on the chef’s beautiful creations that we completely forgot to take a photo of the dessert – poached pears with vanilla ice cream & ginger caramel sauce. However, we can promise you that it was just as delicious as everything else on the menu.
