- Comments Off on Introducing our newest Preserve: Blueberry Chia
We love a good super food. So combining two super foods was a no brainer.
Tracey, our preservationist, really wanted to come up with a new preserve which would incorporate a different texture – that’s where the chia seeds came in. Those tiny seeds can absorb a lot of liquid and add an awesome texture contrast. Chia also packs a real punch with 10g of fiber and almost 5g of protein per ounce. They’ll give you a calcium boost, as well as containing Omega-3 fatty acids and phosphorous.
Our juicy blueberries come from Mick Klug’s farm in St.Joseph, Michigan. Just like chia seeds, blueberries are a good source of fiber and also vitamin C. This preserve is made with just 5 simple ingredients: blueberries, lemon, sugar, chia seeds and salt. We all know jam isn’t necessarily the most healthy thing you can eat, due to the sugar content, but when the other ingredients are super foods, at least that balances it out a little.
Try it on toast, in your oatmeal or smoothie, mixed into vanilla ice cream or on a breakfast waffle. Whichever way you decide, it’ll be delicious!
