In our first ever gift giving guide, we wanted to give a helping hand in picking out a theme for someone as gifts. Pick and choose one or more items or combine one or more items from any of the themes to fit your giftee – or just use these as inspiration.
Know someone who can’t stop talking about the tomatoes last year from that one farm? Do they only stock their shelves with handmade local pasta, small batch sauces, and drink coffee roasted within a 30 mile radius? Stumped on gifts for him/her? Well, fear not, tasty handcrafted foodstuffs to the rescue! We’re pretty keen on all things made/produced here too, midwest, Illinois and Chicago foods are well represented.
From right to left: Glunz Family brings us a Bianca’s Chard – while not grown locally it is packaged by a lovely family of bottlers and suppliers we adore, Co-Op Sauce collaborated with us on a fermented (local) grape hot sauce and is at once sweet and powerfully spicy, Dough Dough Bird Bakery creates perfectly soft gingerbread which is impossible to eat just one of, Metropolis Coffee‘s Southport blend is great for percolating at home for those lazy and tasty mornings, Our Dilly Beans aren’t just blue ribbon delicious but also handmade by us and local, Jo Snow‘s Cola #6 is lively and wonderful even when it isn’t outside, Illinois Sparkling Co has a line up great to save or gift – grown in the rolling Illinois River hills and bottled using traditional methods – spectacular.
These are just a glimpse of our selection of locally crafted items so be sure to peruse our shelves for the full breadth of midwest treasures.
